Explorer Reports

When writing your Explorer reports, please make sure your informational 5-paragraph essay addresses the following points:
  • What was your explorers goal? (Why were they exploring? What were they looking for?)
  • Who (what country) were they exploring for?
  • What did they explore?
  • When did they explore?
  • Tell their story! (Make it interesting! Write a story that someone wants to read!)
  • optional: If it's part of their story, tell how they died!
Don't forget!
  • Story structure! (This is a 5-paragraph essay [minimum]. You must have an introductory paragraph and a conclusion.
  • This is not and opinion piece. Avoid writing in the 1st Person (1st person uses the word "I" because the author is telling the story). Instead, use 3rd Person (3rd person uses he, she, it, etc...) Here is a great resource that explains the differences and how to use them correctly: http://www.mesacc.edu/~paoih30491/PointofView.html
